The First-Generation Kia Forte
Â
First having been available for purchase beginning with the 2009 model year, the Kia Forte is a compact car that's firmly established its place in the automotive market. It's available as a sedan, a coupe (dubbed the "Koup"), or a hatchback. No matter which body style you choose, you'll be getting great features, strong handling, and good fuel economy. It's no wonder so many Cedar Rapids drivers who have come to our Hiawatha dealership have been so impressed with the Forte! This model's first generation will end with the 2013 model; and while the future is exciting, we think it's worth looking at where it came from, too.
Versatile and Hip
The Forte replaced the Cerato in Kia's lineup, and was built on the same platform as the Hyundai Elantra. It represents Kia's attempts to branch out in the market, with the automaker having revealed that the model was marketed toward younger drivers who are drawn to sharper designs.
While the Forte is currently available as a sedan, hatchback, or coupe, these models made their first public appearances at different times:
- Â Â
- The Forte Koup, for instance, was first seen by the public in the guise of a concept car at the New York International Auto Show in 2008; it features a turbocharged 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine. Â Â
- The sedan is perhaps the Forte's most ubiquitous form; it made its first appearance at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. Â Â
- The Forte hatchback has drawn ample praise for its functionality and versatility, blending the strengths of the sedan model with the added cargo space that comes with a hatchback design. It was first seen by public eyes at the 2010 New York International Auto Show.
